An interesting record is out on Ubiquity records, the world renowned downtempo, lounge label. Shawn Lee is a musician/producer whose bio is a good model to many leftfield producers who struggle to find a label for their stuff. Believe it or not the music world is a corporate world and most of the time it's hard to find a label that's open to different stuff. It took Shawn years of disappointment in the corporate music world until This Lebanese, Irish, American Indian man is influenced by as much diversity as his ethnic roots, but in the end he's been working with labels such as Wall of Sound, Talkin' Loud and Grand Scheme.
If you know the netlabel WM Recordings, this album would perfectly fit there. On every song there's a different style from (as the label puts it) kung-fu-flick flavors to Bombay-bastic beats, and although you can identify the influences, Shawn Lee has his unique touch to all songs. I'm convinced that Shawn Lee is a guy with fresh ideas.
