Our beloved Ekin Fil (of Istanbul’s Proudpilot) has released her debut cassette on Jefre Cantu Ledesma’s acclaimed Root Strata label. On ‘Language’ Ekin’s reverb drenched vocals flutter on top of her monotonic acoustic guitar strum to create a barrage of sound. Very personal, dreamy with a bit of melancholy and longing. I had called her Istanbul’s Grouper before and I am happy to see my idea getting confirmed by Aquarius Records as I’m happy to see a fellow artist on the newsletter itself. Limited to 100 copies.
