[vimeo 803804 440] If any of you UK freaks need to get your yearly southern rock fix like I do, the Texas' modern day cowboys White Denim are currently on tour in the UK. I guess it all started with Kings of Leon's sophomore for me : I instantly got teleported into a vintage American car, started riding through the desert and stopping at godforsaken motels, singing about "Taper Jean Girls" and stuff I know shit about. That probably resulted in this traumatic need for a yearly fix of Southern Rock. This year I'm already experiencing a rock-revival and going through the pioneers, thanks to young natives like White Denim rehashing the old aesthetic of Thin Lizzy, Hendrix, Kansas and all the original 60's/70's rock I barely listened to; and also to an extent thanks to Guitar Hero (!) which reminded us how fun playing rock guitar was. "Workout Holiday" has received lots of buzz in the press and the usual criticisms from angry rockheads who constantly keep on saying "it's been done before". Whatever, decide for yourself, and while you're at it go check the masterminds.
