Let's start this day with a lovely nugget by
Ninja Tune released last year by the obscure USA band
The Dragons. Properly released after 37 years of initial conception, "BFI" is a psychedelic surf band from the 60's with more soul than surf guitar. Composed of 3 Malibu, LA surfer brothers this little gem couldn't surface during their own time (as it was still significantly harder to release music than today.) but renowned cratedigger
Strictly Kev (aka
DJ Food) found out about them years later and decided to hunt down members and properly release it. I'm particularly sold to the female backing vocals on "
Your way too" (peaks at about 2:05) or the organ fueled jams on "
Food For my Soul" yet the album displays some idiosyncratic qualities which happens to be cryogenically frozen in time. Exceptionally catchy & soulful gems; check this out if you enjoyed
The Stance Brothers.
