We're huge fans of Ghost Box and the nostalgic aesthetic of their output which brings libraries, victorian buildings, steampunk and old hauntologic memories to mind. I've been a few months late in figuring out that The Advisory Circle aka Jon Brooks aka King of Woolworths has a new one called Other Channels out. I should have subscribed to their newsletter earlier! The Advisory Circle has a similar aesthetic as Belbury Poly and The Focus Group, short sketches of nostalgia, old time radio, public information films, surrealist English banter, analogue synth soundscapes and library music, so if you're a casual radio-friendly song listener you might go WTF? But if you're fascinated with old found photos, scans of early 50's periodicals, public information films or retrofuturism, prepare to be amazed because The Advisory Circle makes the music you've always wanted to listen to.
Light synthesiser melodies and moments of surreal humour float in a drift of pastoral melancholia and fuzzy music concrete. Fragments of public information broadcasting are filtered through the distorting lens of prescription tranquillisers. Malicious gossip becomes jumbled and confused with continuity announcements.
