Colorado's
IZ, formed by guitarist
Michael Serviolo is a power trio, with bassist
Tom Sublet and drummer
David Kerman. Their 2006 album
E-M remained below the radar somehow but I think it's worth a few listens, if you're into experimental heavy stuff. Progressive riffs, timechanges, abrupt stops and noise is abound on E-M released by the experimental household
RERUSA.
The songs sound fragmented and most of the time they're too short to be called songs anyways, mostly experimentations, sometimes with guitar noise and drone, and sometimes it sounds like a slower and sludgier
Fantomas without
Patton. Both of the songs I selected are below the 2 minute mark, but they have some great riffage especially the heavy doomy sound of
Erotic Robot Device is supercool. More reviews from
Allaboutjazz and
Piero Scaruffi, who is most definitely the toughest critic on the internet. (he hasn't given an 8 to any album in 2006!)
