What kind of feelings does "
The Hopelessly Sad Story of the Hideous end of the World", title of the new
Gangpol und Mit album create? If you're a sharp observer you'll notice something wrong at the title, suffice to say it's simply not serious enough to tell of the sad story of the end of the world like, say a post-rock or a dark ambient band would tell. And that's OK!, because this album could only be telling the story of the end of the world from the perspective of a child robot adopted by
Jean Jacques Perrey and that means : It's FUN!
Taking their inspiration from
Perrey's merry synth melodies and mixing it with early
Dat Politics noise,
Gangpol has found our soft spot. We're a huge fan of children's music like this, waltzes, monosynths, console music and robotic noises, and matching doodles. (taken care of by the other half Guillaumit) No wonder I can not grow up to be a successful businessman or a white-collar corporate,
Ok, so this goes for everyone who still has time to lay down that book by Kafka & the thick glasses required aside once in a while to shout "
Food Fight!" or watch "
Spongebob Squarepants". Get this one out on the French
WWilko which will be under close scrutiny from now on. They'll also be releasing a new one soon on the Japanese
Out One label.
