Ederlezi / Hidrellez

Last year's Hidrellez Festival The huge wish tree Today is the 5th of May and for all you American/West European/Asian/Australian friends out there, it's the coming of spring. Whether you celebrate it with the name of Hidrellez (which is the names of the prophets Hidir and Elias (Elijah) put together) or Ederlezi, it's time to drink lots and rejoice spring Balkan/Gypsy style. Our friend Boutros from "Better git it in your soul" is travelling from Norway to Macedonia and that reminded me that I shouldn't miss the opportunity to post some more Balkan music for you. In Istanbul we're celebrating it at Ahirkapi, so if you're around join the party with free drinks, food and lots of Gypsy/Balkan orchestras and put your wishes on the wish tree.
