The second reissue I wanna write about is Gang of Four's Entertainment, it's not a 2006 reissue but I got it recently. I think I got to admit that I don't know jack shit about post-punk, I figured that out after I began to read ILX, but now as I listen to this album, I'm 100% sure.
The fact that this album's from 1979 is phenomenal. From the beginning notes of Ether, it's a completely love story with the band, their cynical tone and the indifferent aura they have. The lyrics, the guitar tones, the noise, the casual drumbeats, nothing polished, just raw crusty energy. This is the father of Fugazi and Helmet and Quicksand and Trainspotting and what not! Numetal bands today with all their angst-ridden and pseudo-hardcore music haven't got even a fragment of their energy and rebellion, and you know what's best they are back again, and they are as good (if not better) as they were 25 years ago.
Love will get you like a case of anthrax and that's something I don't wanna catch!
