Here is a pack of netlabel releases I've listened to this month, not necessarily released last month though.
Ghouls with Attitude @
oddioverplay.
Comfort Stand : Two Zombies Later @
comfort stand.
If you're into weird music, zombies & ghouls & halloween, strange compositions with influences like surf & rockabilly, 60's & 70's b-movies, and radio sketches, you'll be in for a treat with these 2 releases (both 2CD compilations). Pioneering oddballs like
Bruce Haack ,
Boris Karloff and
Otis Fodder can be heard here but frankly I haven't heard 90% of these artists. So you better download these stuff because these tunes are not to be found anywhere else.
Aphilas - Instrumentally Ill @ Miasmah. Another past release by Miasmah, which is definitely a sound we long to hear more. Close to the
Ninja Tune's 90's sound, the blunted jazzy triphop stuff, which we never get these days. The miasmah liner notes tell us that "we are presented with 'two finnish producers armed with second-hand vinyl and outdated software'." Gotta check out the comments
on the page, could this be the most commented netlabel release ever?
Japanese netlabel
Bumpfoot has attracted my attention in the past few days (I know I'm late sorry) with Croatia's
Dimitris Diavatis' Black & White album. Breaking free from traditional jazz norms, Dimitris' improvisational piano mixes with electronics to create some interesting soundscapes. Very mellow and positive stuff here and the music really conjures some black & white images. He's got more stuff to download if you like :
Black Ambience,
Pages and also don't forget to check out Bumpfoot's new release by
Chico Correa & Electronic Band, latin & electro from Brasil.
Ending part 1 is a terrific electronic dub compilation from,
French Dub Released netlabel.
Dub Echoes features 10 tracks from artists I've never heard like
Meef Chaloin, Moziah and Volfonic, but the quality & variation of the songs struck me. I also liked the Gary Dub Maxi release so if you like what you heard you can
download that too.
