Philadelphia's
King Britt (aka Sylk 130, Scuba) is 30 something right now, yet he's still full of the energy he used to have in his youth. His eclectic taste in music and his genrebending productions and remixes had made him a major player in the Philly hip-hop, house and soul scenes since 1990's and he's worked with many of our favourite artists like
Ursula Rucker, Rich Medina, Senor Coconut and Josh Wink his partner in crime, owner of the
Ovum label.
King Britt's talent as a remixer gave us wholy different remixes to works of artists like
Femi Kuti, Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, H-Foundation, Atjazz and Destiny's Child to name a few. In fact his remix roster is so full, it would take a lot of space if I'd gone through all of them. He finally owned the title on the category "Remix of the Year" with
Danny Tenaglia and Basement Jaxx, which granted him the status of one of the most respected remixes all over the world and crowned his remixing ability.
In support of his latest project and release, the 'Nova Dream Sequence,' which features him on turntables,
Tim Motzer on guitars and
Dan Potthast on visuals, he's started touring worldwide, and he will be in Istanbul for the
Akbank Jazz Festival on the 7th of October in
Yeni Melek. Check his stuff out and feel the groove.
PS: King Britt is his real name and he's been rumoured to have over 10000+ vinyls in his collection!
