I have got this great hobby of
procrastination, that I can't get over. Sometimes posts sit around as drafts for ages, this bugger and the next few ones would probably be some draft posts I had begun writing but couldn't finish before, (until the wave of procrastination hits back). So this could be old news for some of you, as Style IT
has covered it before, but for the ones who haven't heard
Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion mogul has compiled a 2CD downtempo series and surprisingly it's good. Now I hope this isn't a PR scam that I'm falling into and I hope this is personally selected by Mr. Lagerfeld, because I don't want to be part of that type of publicity but the tracklisting includes some hip artists like
The Pipettes, The Boy Least Likely To, Caribou, The Fiery Furnaces etc. Now I wonder, is Karl Lagerfeld actually doing an mp3blog or something?
A second compilation I've got to mention today is by the Argentinian Music Label
PMB, and it's called Jazz and the 90s, which is the easiest and the most fun way to make a compilation, take some rock hits and make jazz covers of them, then get 12 together and voila. However it's always gonna work and don't worry the songs selected here are totally cool, Radiohead's
Creep, Oasis'
Wonderwall, Soundgarden's
Black Hole Sun, all get the brushed drums, female vocals cooljazz treatment. The list goes on and personally I think there's no miss on this compilation. I've chosen 2 tracks from it, the first one November Rain covered by
Anakelly and the second one
Jazzistic covering Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus with
Karin Souza on the vocals.
