It has come to my attention that we've not pleased our indie loving friends recently. Fear not, as I come to the rescue with 3 songs, which are delicate and fragile songs with gentle female vocals.
Berlin's Masha Qrella is Contriva's guitarist/bass player and this song is from her 4 piece band's new single on Morr Music. When you're making accessible music (as opposed to experimental music) you've got to get the feeling and the sound goin' nice and it's always an added bonus if you make the song a memorable one. Masha has got the perfect songwriting skills and balances everything perfectly on this one, you can ask my gf to testify because, there was this one time when I couldn't sing anything but this single line "Don't stop, Don't stop the dance".
Shoreline's mainly a 2 piece folk/indie band from the UK, but they're not the traditional guitar/vocal duo, and they seem to have lots of multi instrumentalist friends to spice up their music. They've released their debut EP In April 2006 through Manchester based Yesternow Records. This tiny little song has poetic lyrics over a hurrying arpeggio on the guitar. Beware as it may give you foggy eyes in the smallest amount of time possible.
Windmill is the recording name of 26-year old Matthew Thomas Dillon of UK.
'My songs are abstract,' says Dillon. 'They are open to interpretation. I have subconscious images and I think I write to those.'
Ok, so I've listened to the song and here's my interpretation, I'm on a trip to Tokyo to sing this song at this Karaoke Bar after reuniting with my highschool friends, who have by chance gone to the same Karaoke bar, and we joyfully sing this song, screaming our nuts off. I might seem superficial to you guys, but at least I never do Karaoke. Never!
BTW did I mention his debut 12" is on Static Caravan, which is a leet label who has released CDrs and albums from artists such as Tunng, Cheju and Maps and Diagrams, not to mention a slew of artists who I've never heard of and I'm salivating over..
