Just a quickie after the Kode9 review, I've been listening to some more dark hiphop/step/electronica albums and some songs are rocking my mind right now. The first one is by Dabrye aka Tadd Mulinix. Embraced both by the electronica scene and the hiphop scene, he's a great artist who released an album called "Two Three" a few months ago on Ghostly International. Not gonna go into detail as you can find detailed (and contradicting) reviews here and here. This song has an unbelievable melodic sample and a dark atmosphere, complemented by the Kadence. The second track is from Milanese, Planet Mu's rising star. Dead Man Walking is a dark and wild stepper beast remixed by Virus Syndicate, mostly for the dance floor. Here's the Igloo review. And to wrap it up, here's a track from Jaylib's 2003 album, which has been occupying the back of my mind for some time. R.I.P once again to J Dilla, everything he has touched is golden!.
