Covers part 2
Here's part 2 of our covers feature:
* Tiga - Hot in Herre : i had actually liked Nelly's "country grammar" single when it was released back in '00. it was in '02 though when he got significantly recognized with his sophomore album, Nellyville and the moving single; "Hot in Herre". People all over the world tend to display crazy pseudosexy dance moves when they hear the original, but the cover is definitely more fun.
* Nouvelle Vague - Love will tear us apart : Well i guess everyone knows the cover and the original. I know it sounds phony but i cannot help think how beautiful it would be to be in Manchester in the Manchester era.. and this brings to my mind that Placebo's cover of "Big Mouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths (who rule) makes me want to puke.
* Tunng - The Pioneers : Another indie to folk conversion, though the original is quite more rocky than postal service, this one goes from "Bloc Party" to the band who plays seashells. This version might be Kele Okereke's favorite as well, i suppose.
* Ricardo Villalobos/Miss Kittin/Tobi Neumann - What time is love? : Deep, dark, sexy, minimal and all-star cover for the KLF's 1990 hit. Villalobos, Kittin and Neumann are names you don't get to see together every day.
* Danger Mouse - What more can i say : 1/2 of both Gnarls Barkley and Dangerdoom; Dangermouse's grey album, in which acappella's from Jay-z's black album lay over samples from the Beatles' white album, is a must have for all mashup, Beatles & hip hop fans. Jay-Z's rappin' on while my guitar gently weeps in this one...
* Gary Jules - Mad World : Well the song has made a lot of ppl cry during the ending scene of Donnie Darko (which seems to have gained enough cult status as to be called a classic, but quite hard to figure out; i couldn't at least - even though i looked it up a lot as well), however the original from the 80's duo Tears for Fears is quite electric and i bet it would look good on the dancefloor.
