Izmar is a Dutch artist on
Monotonik . Although it's nothing ground breaking, this is one of the
best produced netlabel EPs I've ever listened. The album is generally world music influenced downtempo, full of lush sounds and sitars a la Thievery Corporation. What's striking is the completeness of the songs, they are not experimental tracks or sketched ideas (like some netlabel stuff) but fully grown songs with tiptop production both sound and arrangement wise.. hats off!
Also noteworthy is Oxygenfad's third release on the
Postunder label. This 7 song EP clocks 19minutes and begins with a striking minimal piano piece,
Bambino di vendetta , and continues with experimental noisy ambient sounds.
And a few tips in the mp3blog direction.
A few days ago I mentioned
Luminescent Orchestrii on
Comfort Music. Those two songs grew on me more and more so here's a re-mention. Their music is the bastard child of Balkan gypsies and Irish fiddlers, soundtrack to a pagan ritual, very uptempo and danceable (well for some people anyway!). The song
Stranger is my favourite, laden with a such a nice vocal melody, get it!
And while you're there don't forget to check the
Safety Scissors post. I just can't recommend you
this tune enough. It was on the Staedtizism 4 compilation from Berlin's
~Scape records, which is the home for all those nice artists like Pole and
Jan Jelinek.
