Folk revival : Turlu Tursu

How easy I get obsessed with songs these days. It seems after listening to lots of electronic / experimental / avantgarde music, I have been going through a phase of listening to more melodic and folkloric music.

Here is Turlu Tursu (means something like varied pickles in Turkish.) a band from Belgium with many traditional influences like Balkan, Celtic music as well as oriental music and klezmer. A diverse fusion of world cultures with jazz, rock and dub, Turlu Tursu’s music has many exotic instruments like Indian flute and Bansuri etc. in addition to the standards : accordeon, clarinet, drum and bass.

I fell in love with the song “Yurukte Yaylasi“, a traditional Turkish song, sang by bands’ Turkish vocalist Sibel Dincer, accompanied by Etienne Plummer’s percussion Fabian Beghin’s accordeon and Nicolas DechĂȘne’s bass. Second song is an uptempo jazz song with great instrumentation.

Buy seperate songs from Accordion ‘n Drum ‘n Bass for 0.99.
