Richard Galliano - Luz Negra
World famous accordionist and composer Mr. Richard Galliano has a new album out on Milan Records entitled Luz Negra. There’s a wealth of world music influences that’s hard to pinpoint but I think the recipe is a bit of French music from home mixed with a dose of Tango from Argentina and cooked in Sao [...]
Weekly three #1
While I listen to a lot of mood setting ambient & experimental stuff, I’m primarily a song guy. Whenever even a tiny bit of chorus or riff occupies my mind, I can’t stop repeat-listening the song. However it takes around 4-5 listens to memorize every aspect of the song, so the passion dies probably within [...]
The Cracow Klezmer Band
Here comes the alleged Tzadik fanboy with a new and unfortunately the final release from The Cracow Klezmer Band. “Remembrance” released on Tzadik in March is a final testimony to the band with a terrific 2005 performance in Warsaw at the Polish National Radio concert studio. One thing the Eastern Europeans & Russians do is [...]
Retroethnic Sunday!
Yes retroethnic!. A word I made up 5 minutes ago to describe today’s songs. The first song is by Tofig Guliyev, and it’s off the compilation, Jazz in Azerbaijan Anthology. I’m disappointed with the second CD of this compilation, which has lots of newage/midi drum stale jazz, but the first CD has this gem by 1917 born composer Guliyev which has a ripping guitar played like a tar on top of a 20s style big brass band joined by some accordeon and piano, very musical.
Henri Texier & Strada Sextet
Mr. Texier is one of France’s well known contemporary jazz musicians especially with his partnership with Aldo Romano and Louis Sclavis, which I’ve talked about before here.
Alamaailman Vasarat
Finnish avant prog big band Alamaailman Vasarat has just released their long expected new album Maahan on Wolfgang Records. I’ve already been highly impressed by their second album Käärmelautakunta and its dark symphonic melodies, but unfortunately couldn’t find the time to write about them.
Vasarat’s music is otherworldly strange as they themselves mention that they are [...]

Undomondo Radio Show #2
Thanks to some comments I’ve decided to upload the radioshow to archive.org!
I’m also trying to customize a more usable 3 column design and make some changes, that’s why in the daytime you may see the blog unavailable until I finish it up (which may take up to a week because of my css “skills”). Till [...]
Rashanim
If you’re living in NYC and are into the avant/jazz rock scene chances are you’ve heard of the power trio Rashanim. I’ve mentioned their myspace page before, but their new album Shalosh on Tzadik deserves a dedicated post. Rashanim is guitarist Jon Madof, bassist Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz (who was also playing the upright bass on [...]
Hadouk Trio
Hadouk Trio is the brain child of Didier Malherbe and Loy Ehrlich with percussionist Steve Shehan. All three are multi instrumentalists, and the music sounds very rich and the instruments are warm, especially the Dodouk (from which the second part of the word Hadouk comes from) is ultra warm…
