Turkish Jazz Mix
Here’s a mix that has been salvaged from my bookmarks directory where it has been residing for the last month. An extraordinaire Turkish jazz mix from 60s/70s by Onur Engin. Sorry for sittin’ on this one for so long, it’s an amazing piece of history, and one that will set you looking for more from this era, if you’ve got the ears & mind. Kudos to Onur.
Turcobilly
Our man in Germany, occasional collaborator and DJ/MC extraordinaire Kariem Diggins aka Kabus Kerim has made a new mix on mixcloud called Turcobilly. 20 songs of rapidfire 60’s / 70’s Turkish psych beat from orchestras like Siluetler, Haramiler, Mavi Isiklar, Apaslar and artists such as Cahit Oben, Ali Atasagun and Alpay.
Bosphorus By Moonlight

Bana Bana : Eurovision 89
“Here are the three versions of Turkey’s 1989 Eurovision entry: Grup Pan – Bana Bana. The first version is a studio mix, the second one is a live version and the third one is a remix. Although the song received 5 points, placing 21st in a field of 22 in that year’s contest, I personally think that Bana Bana is the best amongst Turkey’s Eurovision entries with its complex harmonic and percussive content.
