Sawako
Sawako’s sound incorporates looping, field recordings, gentle noises all modified and blended in a chiming drone sound. It’s easy to make it noisier and darker since noisy music tends to sound dark. That’s probably why there are so many crap dark ambient acts. Her latest effort is a testimony to this bright chiming sound, bringing to mind Alvin Curran’s classic Songs and Views of the Magnetic Garden from 1974, or recent works by Stars of the Lid.

I’m pretty sure though, the weather’s still messed up all around the world, so there’s a whole bunch of you who’ll love this odd [...]
S. Mathieu & J. Schaefer
German Stephan Mathieu and English Janek Schaefer are two big names from the “academic” sound composing scene. Their latest collaboration “Hidden Name” is an exceptional journey through ambient textures and field recordings. Recorded during the winter of 2005 in a Victorian rural area in the South of England, this is exceptional in the way that [...]

I tried to remember where I heard Mosz before and realized my fellow Error101 reviewed Gustav a few weeks ago.Lokai is formed by label boss Stefan Németh and guitarist Florian Kmet. Like Pekler’s music there are tense and eerie [...]
