My last.fm says I’ve listened to this particular song for 26 times, something I seldom do. I truly can’t stop listening to this one, and FOR ONCE I even care about the lyrics of an indie rock song. Sing along with the Real Estate who’re releasing one of the best LPs concieved this year, and this one comes from a an indie-rock/hipster sceptic. Out soon on Woodsist.

The amount of happy go-lucky jangly LA pop you can listen to is limited, and there’s a whole bunch of good/crap coming out of that camp, but this 10 minute long EP has actual music to go with the noise-reverb drenched doodlings most bands offer these days.

#75 was mostly dug by Can with me contributing my mixing (more like ableton live) skills. That’s why his dandy style noticably takes over, as this is one fine 1 hour mix, for which you are obliged to be in your bathrobes or robe de chambres, comfortably sipping some brandy. This mix goes through easy listening, jazz, exotica and vintage surf, it definitely feels retro but not kitsch (i hope).

No one will shun you if you haven’t heard the genre called Chicha, a psychedelic take on Cumbia which is itself a rather obscure Latino genre. Inspired by fermented maize beer of the same name, this Peruvian Amazonic version of Cumbia features “Andean melodies and the psychedelic sounds of surf guitars.

“The eternal wonders of space and time, the faraway dreams and mysteries of other worlds, other life, the stars, the planets.
