Dicky Trisco in Istanbul
Our man from Edinburgh, editor massive Dicky Trisco will be gracing our digs minimüzikhol. So why not start the week with some easy going disco deviance fun. He’s got two amazing sets up for grabs on soundcloud. The first one done for the Cool in the Pool blog is absolutely breathtaking. Don’t miss Friday night if you’re around town.
Soundcloud Scavenge
Resting on our soundcloud favelist are three unrelated singles. Siriusmo’s remix to Bodi Bill, Polish electric indie band Thecarisonfire’s debut single and Leftside Wobble’s Curtis Mayfield re-edit. Enjoy.
Y.O.Y Edits
One of Loud-E’s re-edits on Ambassador’s Reception I instantly fell in love was Y.O.Y. Here’s that one with another perfect disco edit from him. Two more tracks, Italians do it Better boss Mike Simonetti’s Jackson 5 edit he posted on Alainfinkielkrautrock and indie disco sensation Woolfy vs Projections‘ Neeve I munched off discodust to cap this day.
Dirty Sound System
French Dirty Sound System crew will be gracing Istanbul skies this saturday for a night filled with “diskrautrock • deep folk • z movies • dirty diamonds • cosmic • country • balearic breakcore • codeine disco beats • south-italo disco • northern soul • dirty edits • musique de secte • slow is the new fast • obscure and beyond”.
Pilooski Remixes Presley
Frenchman Pilooski has this year’s “Beggin“: a reedit of Elvis Presley’s “Crawfish“. Is it the first time a Presley reedit has been made? This will surely be an anthem, but unfortunately no downloads allowed for now just a stream off Fairtilizer
Agitation Free
Footage & Music from a 70s trip to Egypt by the legendary krautrock band Agitation Free, re-edit by our Australian friend Faux Pas
Reedits
There’s a rising trend in dance music for the last few years, and it’s now safe to say disco is back, at least in Europe, and mostly thanks to re-edits. Of course the nu-disco scene in USA has been flowering for years, with the likes of Metro Area, Daniel Wang & Kelley Polar but re-edits of prog/kraut bands like Alan Parsons Project?
Todd Terje does it again
If there’s one guy who should be permitted to do reedits, it’s mr Todd Terje aka Tangoterje. Starting with his infamous “Can’t help it” re-edit featured on the last post down then with “Woman of the World” and now with 3 priceless reedits on his latest EP on Supreme Records, his choice of tracks are always perfect, and his subtle touches really let the songs shine in a different light to newer audiences.
