Although #70 was broadcast a few weeks ago, a case of synchronicity made it available on the blog just in time for Valentine’s Day. Starting off with exotica mastermind Martin Denny and delving into bossa nova and easy listening from João Donato & Horst Jankowski et al to funky stuff via Roy Ayers, The Bamboos and Bobby Womack, this show is tailor made for the Valentine’s brunch.

Another joint show with Can Ayverdi/Cleansweep, you can realize the degree of soulfulness when you see the names Lee Hazlewood, Galt McDermot and Al Hirt in a row. There’s more to come though! Some of the highlights are brasiliera from Walter Wanderley and Charlie Rouse, more velvet soul from Bobby Womack and a cosmic ending with Build an Ark’s first effort.
