Shining
We went to see Rune Grammofon’s avantjazzmetal combo Shining yesterday night. I had heard that they pack a punch at their shows. They were very loud indeed. When the guitars kicked in during their opener Winterreise, I thought my ears were bleeding.
Capillary Action
If you remember a few days ago I told that, “So Embarrassing” the second album by Philadelphia rock band Capillary Action deserves a bit more pondering. Anyone who frequents this blog knows that we love eclecticism as long as it’s used in the authentic form of the word, “drawing upon multiple theories, styles, or ideas”. Capillary Action has taken eclecticism further with barely a few musical neighbours.
Sleeping People
San Diego instrumental-prog rockers Sleeping People was one of the last real finds of 2007. Released on Temporary Residence the label, which also hosts Explosions in the Sky, Tarantel and Maserati and Grails among others, “Growing” is a straight forward instrumental rock album with trailing guitar riffs and rock solid drumming.
