Barış K.’s Labour Day Mix
To show our solidarity with all of the oppressed of the world, our friend Barış K. has made a special Labour Day Mix. His selection unearths mostly political and mostly forgotten (thanks to constant military interventions) songs from the 60-80s Turkish repertoire, gems from Cem Karaca, Selda, Derdiyoklar, Aşık Mahzuni and others you won’t be able to listen anywhere else. Enjoy!
Culture
30 years ago on 7/7/77 Reggae trio of Joseph Hill, Albert Walker and Kenneth Dayes, Culture released their seminal debut. Of course I wasn’t even around back then but I’m probably sure I’d have gone rasta the second I heard the beginning notes of anthemic “Black Starliner must come.”
Porest – Tourrorists
Porest is a one-man collage terrorist from Oakland, CA aka Mark Gergis. This is his fourth album and I’m really curious about his past work and most of the stuff from this small label called Abduction.
