Desert Boots
In anticipation of any/all music lovers that might make their way via cosmicdisco, we quickly selected a few pieces that will hopefully intrigue the the cosmic connoisseurs in pleasant ways. Escape from New York, Nick Ayoub & DJ Mitsu’s remix of Cro-Magnon.
Undomondo Radio Show #57
Don’t ask me where 55-56 is, forgot to upload them! Starts off with moogy balearic soundscapes, think the transition to Yeasayer works good, not sure about the next oriental jazz piece. I’m loving this Jackie Paris track, anyone has links to more songs?
Duoud & Abdulatif Yagoub in town
Just taking a break from stoner rock for a bit to announce the Yemenese oud master Abdulatif Yagoub is in town for a gig tonight. I’ve written about them a few times and I’ve also helped secure a show here, Yagoub is a true artist and it’d be a pleasure to watch him perform with Smadj & Mehdi from Duoud
DuOud & Abdulatif Yagoub
Another essential middle-eastern dub & electronic fusion album you’ve got to own is a joint project by DuOud & Abdulatif Yagoub. DuOud is an obvious play on “duo oud”, and consists of French Musicians Mehdi Habbab (Algeria) and Jean-Pierre Smadj (Tunisia) who I’ve heard before from his activities in Istanbul.
Fedayi Pacha
Brothers & Sisters, if there’s one name who’s constantly been rising on my last.fm charts for the past few months, it must be Fedayi Pacha. If you’ve been following us since 2005, you’ll remember that I loved his previous album as well, but this time it’s become a sweet addiction, even to the point of addicting other people who aren’t really into dub and oriental stuff.
Thilges & Middle Eastern Music
It was surprising to see middle eastern music on Berlin’s Staubgold which release electronic acts like Leafcutter John, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, To Rococo Rot. It turns out that Thilges ‘ second album on Staubgold is a commision by “Jeunesse“, which features 2 main guest artists, the Iraqi oud player Asim-Al Chalabi and Persian vocalist Zohreh Jooya and 4 other guests like the viola player Eyvind Kang.
Amit
Big ups to our newest contributer, the Turkish dnb mafia Golem, who is one half of Flatliners and who has been involved in Istanbul music scene since day one. Let me add that he’s got a versatile taste although he plays dnb, I remember seeing him at a Moonspell concert back in the day and he’s also fond of extreme music like grindcore ! Welcome aboard mate.
Porest – Tourrorists
Porest is a one-man collage terrorist from Oakland, CA aka Mark Gergis. This is his fourth album and I’m really curious about his past work and most of the stuff from this small label called Abduction.
