Arson
Was just going to post a quick reminder to check out our videoblog for goods, yet it quickly evolved into a selection of oldschool punk and post punk. Three videos and three songs for you to enjoy from great figures of the late 70s.
Common
One song that’s been running in my head since our friend Cleansweep played it on our Collab radio show 2 weeks ago, was Common’s “The People”, the first single off his latest album “Finding Forever“. Soulful jazzy hiphop is where my money’s at kids and “Finding Forever” is no different.
Fugazi – Turkish Disco
Here’s a local friend who’s one of the most respected DJs of Istanbul, with an immense knowledge of early soul/funk/disco/house whatever, he’s played with most of the legendary DJs that surfaced in Istanbul and he’s gonna play before Coldcut this month. A few weeks ago I asked him to write some stuff, surprisingly he’s gone back to his punk roots and came up with a rare track.
Hip-Hop special
Ok, I’ve been listening to a few hip-hop gems last week, but failed to write about them because I’ve got to hand out some papers for my finals. So here they are now, now that I have some free time, and after Friday it’s the long awaited summer break so we’ll have more time for music and proper posts (I hope).
