It’s not easy being Kim Gordon. The influential Sonic Youth leadwoman is a very active player in the NY scene with lots of side projects apart from SY, and being one of the originators of the fuzzy no-holds barred alternative rock, it’s always difficult to follow up to your accomplishments.

15 Battles – Mirrored (Warp Records) : Everybody’s been talking about “Mirrored” this year, and they kind of deserve it for getting their oddtimed dissonant music to find strange acclaim from mainstream circles as well as mathheads.

I got to spill my guts, NYC’s Marnie Stern is my new obsession with her furious debut “In Advance of the Broken Arm” on Kill Rock Stars. Just as you think every musical aesthetic has been covered, someone comes along and shows you that the human creativity has no bounds.
White Magic!
I’m terribly obsessed with White Magic’s “Dat Rosa Mel Apibus“, even more than the time I featured them here. A few searches here and there led me to some live performances and stuff, so today’s once again White Magic time.
