Matthew Halsall
One of last year’s best kept secrets was Mancunian trumpeter Matthew Halsall’s sophomore album Colour Yes on Gondwana.
Sentimento Latino
Clear bright blue skies in Istanbul today and what better way to celebrate then play some jolly nujazz, we’ll have time to play gloomy stuff in the impending winter season. Today’s menu is comprised entirely of Milano produce.

The Nostalgia 77 Octet
First “Everything under the Sun” by Nostalgia 77 and now the “Weapons Of Jazz Destruction” by the Nostalgia 77 Octet! Benedic Lamdin seems to be a never-stopper. 2 extraordinary albums in a year!! That really is not the correct way to do things in the music industry is it?
Metropolitan Jazz Affair
I’ve hinted you last week that there was an exceptional new Metropolitan Jazz Affair CD released on Infracom the label that gave us acts like Marschmellows, Aromabar, [Re:Jazz]. I had heard praises for their eponymous debut yet haven’t been able to listen to it, so I didn’t miss the second chance.
Nostalgia 77
As promised a few posts ago here’s the spanking new new LP from Benedic Lamdin aka Nostalgia 77. It’s a shame I haven’t listened to his previous efforts, nor have I heard that he has won the Jazz Album Of The Year at the BBC Radio One Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards.
Downtempo Selection 2

Jukka Eskola Quintet
Finnish jazz trumpetist, Jukka Eskola, also known for his work in nu-jazz bands like Nuspirit Helsinki, The Five Corners Quintet and the bizarroelectro Jimi Tenor Group, has released his second album Hub Up, tribute to Freddie Hubbard one of the most prominent jazz trumpetists ever from my favourite Jazz band “The Jazz Messengers” led by the legendary drummer Art Blakey.
