A Priori
Van Wissem’s influences span the centuries, from Dowland to Deleuze, Tennyson to Sacher-Masoch. He also waxes lyrical about Lacan’s mirror stage theory. “Lacan describes the formation of the ego as a process of identification with one’s own specular image; the mirror leads to tension between the subject and the image. I wanted to find a musical parallel to that. Hence palindromes.”
Arve Henriksen
Guess it’s hard to leave Scandinavia behind after a few days of Finland, we will now go to the picturesque Norway with a new album from Rune Grammofon veteran Arve Henriksen. We can all collectively envy how little time it takes Rune Grammofon to give us one after another outstanding release.
Men-an-Tol
Men-an-Tol’s Static Caravan release of 200 pieces just sold out but thanks to internet I’ve gotten hold of this 4 tracker, and believe me this is golden.
Belbury Poly
Team Undomondo is leaving for Prague today, so expect less posts till Wednesday, I’m trying to queue up 1-2 posts before I leave, but it seems I don’t have enough time to do it, we’ll see!
Tunng
Now I know Tunng has been featured on many other mp3blogs however they deserve every bit of coverage on every media. We’ve all been obsessed with ‘Pool beneath the pond’ since our first listen!. I’m particularly struck with the medieval feeling, somewhere along Sopor Aeternus without the gothic feel.
