Astronauts of Antiquity’s Rocket Science for Dummies is a solid downtempo/pop/jazz album with inspired songwriting, mellow vibes and good musicianship. Think of Morcheeba’s first 2-3 albums or Zero 7’s debut, Lamb or Thievery Corporation and you’ll be prepared for what the Astronauts are gonna bring to the table.

Last week I spent some time to cover some promo albums we got and clear that inbox. After few days though it’s still full, so here’s another post with email submissions. Beware though I won’t be checking new stuff that’s sent to us for at least a month from now on.

Most of the time, press text of albums are full of cliches and unneeded banter about the past accomplishments of the band with vague words and praise. Here I was today trying to write a short intro to A&E’s new album Oi! released on the avantelectronic label Sonig.

Zimpala is the brainchild of DJ Fred BNX. A 6 piece band from France, that makes elegant easy listening pop music with all kinds of different influences like nu-jazz, lounge and easy listening. Singer Noémie Brosset is capable of singing and finding melodies in both French and English.
