One of our favourite deep house producers, UK’s Martin Iveson aka Atjazz has a new one under his belt called Full Circle. As the Co-founder and head of Mantis Recordings (Rhythm Plate, Brooks) has been on the forefront of jazzy UK deep house for ages. Operating from Derby he’s been producing a steady supply of deep house beats mixed with electric soul stuff & downbeat.

The second compilation from Barcelona’s Lasal label formed after the beach & open-air bar of the same name (since 1993!) showcases a selection from high quality contemporary urban dance music that none of us with a sane mind can resist. A range of styles like urban soul, reggae, deep house, leftfield hiphop, broken beats, electronica are apparent.

Amidst the surge of electro house and nu-rave, club music has become increasingly anti-musical and it won’t be wrong to say that mainstream house music has lost it’s soulful, deep vibes. It’s a shame all the DJs I’ve recently listened to (including oldschool djs) start to play electro house when the dancefloor gets full. Is that because the new young club crowd is energetic or am I getting old?.

I’ve been on a soulful jazzy house tip for some time because of this stormer called “You got rhyhtm too”. It seems Mr. Phil Kullmann better known as Raw Artistic Soul has gotten all the better parts of Latin, Afro Beat, Funk & Dub and put it into a warm soulful house album. Released by Gogo Music, this album has some guest musicians & vocalists.
