Trio Romano Sclavis Texier
Continuing the jazz vibe on undomondo, I’ve decided to choose this French trio’s last album for a quick review. Aldo Romano, Louis Sclavis and Henri Texier are 3 major French contemporary jazz figures, and this album is the final chapter of the African journey that started 10 years ago.
Fahir Atakoglu Trio
Well I wouldn’t want to show this as a solo album, but the names of these guys added up would take up half the screen together, so I shortened the title a little bit. The correct title should have read Fahir Atakoglu / Horacio El Negro Hernandez / Anthony Jackson - If (what an ironically [...]
Gerry Hemingway Quartet - Rallier
I know I have been lacking on the avantjazz/freejazz front for some time although I’ve been listening to a few great albums I’ve picked up recently. And surprise they are not on Tzadik this time! :)
Gerry Hemingway Quartet’s latest album The Whimbler is on the Portuguese Clean Feed label that focus on creative jazz. [...]
Tokow Boys and Erik Truffaz
2 exotic and eclectic songs for today.
The first is off a Tigersushi compilation. This is the only track I’ve ever listened from Tokow Boys, but surprisingly (or maybe not?) they’re a french techno-pop band from early 80s. Weird, hard to categorize exotic post-punk song with a strange vocal, that sounds like French mixed with Japan.

Okkyung Lee // Jarboe // Rubin Steiner
Wooooo, a nice day for blogging ! . Four new tracks featured on undomondo.
For the first time the songs are featured on a freeserver, called sendspace. I checked through many and settled on sendspace, they never delete the link as long as it gets downloads, they give you 1200mb, they have a nice upload progress [...]
Yesterday’s New Quintet - Wanda Vidal
Definitely incredible stuff from Madlib. He’s probably my favourite jazzy leftfield hiphop producer. He hasn’t disappointed me ever, not once. This is a track from his side project
Yesterday’s New Quintet’s last offering Sound Directions : The Funky side of Life on his own Stones Throw label.
“The Funky Side of Life” represents Madlib’s first full length [...]
Jamie Saft Trio - Shalmiel
The first time I heard the name of Tzadik label, it’s strange name intrigued me a lot. Later I figured out that, it was a figment of John Zorn’s imagination, and from then on I listened to many Tzadik releases, and I am now confident that I like most of their releases (although some are [...]
Flanger - Crime in the Pale Moonlight
(from their 2005 album Spirituals)
Flanger has been an inspirational band for the last few years (although the name sux :P), thanks to the sheer brilliance of AtomTM and Bernd Friedman. Both have delivered exceptional releases on many labels (Ninja Tune, Rather Interesting, K7 etc.) and many names (Senor Coconut, Atom Heart, Burnt Friedman & The [...]
Espen Horne - Ain’t no Sunshine
(from his 2005 EP on Hi-Fi Terapi)
Mr. Horne is a talented musicman from Bergen, Norway and this song is off his debut release on the yummy Norwegian label Hi-Fi Terapi. Espen is not a newcomer in the scene though, he has released many records on the ever-successful Stereo Deluxe label as Bobby Hughes and on [...]
