Undomondo Radio Show #79
The in-house gag about this show was that we were ready to work at the BRT (a fictional state owned radio station from Brasil that resembles our TRT) simply because it never wanders off brasileira & exotica, albeit a few breathers of downtempo jazz from Cecil Taylor and Marc Copland. Play this on sunny afternoons.
Jazz for your Mind
A sublime cerebral jazz mix for your Mind, by our collaborator Cenk Akyol. This is a seamless B&W trumpet jazz with some ethnic stylings, feat. Erik Truffaz, Herbie Mann, Brad Mehldau, Chris Botti, Dhaffer Youssef, Nguyen Le. & others.
Build an Ark
For some reason when I first got a hold of “Dawn” I mistook “Build an Ark” for “Like A Tim” because of the name. That’s why my first listen to the album was a story of shock, as this is a very soulful and organic album as opposed to “Like A Tim”s electronic techno music.
The Stance Brothers
Here’s the coolest lounge jazz album I’ve ever heard in a long time, from a little known sixties band The Stance Brothers. Teppo “Teddy Rok” Mäkynen the drummer of The Five Corners Quintet and its leader on stage and also sideman for Jukka Eskola and Timo Lassy is also an established producer.
Undomondo Radio Show #20
#20 features, a lot of leftfield hiphop from UK’s Dirty Diggers, J. Rawls & Holmskillit, Kidkanevil even some neo-oldschool stuff by Jazzy Jeff. Some crazy stuff from Peru and Japan, particularly the awesome instrumental version of Otemoyan by Teruo Yoda and the japanese dub track by Accidental’s Setsubun Bean Unit.
Undomondo Radio Show #19
Once again we’re behind schedule in releasing our shows online. Here’s #19 done by yours truly, it’s a journey from electronic to mechanic to african & brasil jazz and ends with ethnic music from Balkans and Turkey. There’s some funny overdubs by grindcore heads Gut, I can’t play grindcore on the show but no one gets hurt with some samples.
Metropolitan Jazz Affair
I’ve hinted you last week that there was an exceptional new Metropolitan Jazz Affair CD released on Infracom the label that gave us acts like Marschmellows, Aromabar, [Re:Jazz]. I had heard praises for their eponymous debut yet haven’t been able to listen to it, so I didn’t miss the second chance.
Undomondo Radio Show #14
Here’s #14 of our show as I try to keep up. I had published a best of 2007 (kinda) list before but seems my fileden account has run out of bandwidth so I will move it to another place and republish it tomorrow, in the meantime enjoy this show selected by yours truly.
