Back home after a short trip, here’s the folky selection we promised but couldn’t deliver on Friday. New stuff from Akron/Family’s Set ‘em Wild, Set ‘em Free, Boduf Songs new EP on Under the Spire, Fire on Fire’s The Orchard (Young God) and DM Stith introduced to us by Simone of Discoballbreaker. Kind of a male Joanna Newsom.

Today we have a Leonard Cohen cover coming from a surprising artist, techno DJ Misstress Barbara, title track Hanne Hukkelberg’s “Blood from a Stone”, opener to Scanner’s “Rockets unto the Edges” and “West End Girls” from electro dance punk sensations We Have Band.

Contriva frontwoman Masha Qrella has been a fave since “Don’t stop the dance” graced our ears more than 2 years ago. Haven’t heard much from her in the meantime, so imagine the joy of listening to Speak Low, 11 songs of recontextualized / covered music from Kurt Weill and Frederick Loewe two highly respected Broadway composers.

Our fave noise rock outfit from Wales is back with another top notch album, I’m sure most of you have watched the video but read the lyrics and watch it again. Album soon to be released.

Marnie Stern the lovable mathrock/indie guitarist from NYC is playing live today @ Babylon Istanbul. We’ll be there trying to singalong and shred our airguitars. Plus : Twitter Watch 4 with news, interviews and music from John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Bullion, Madlib etc.
