This one got the airtime because of the Odd Nosdam remix, yet after few listens the original grew on me more than the Odd Nosdam version. Dark Dark Dark are a Minnesota band that reminded me of A Hawk and A Hacksaw with a little bit of cabaret thrown in.

All girl twee pop trio Liechtenstein has released their debut full length “Survival Strategies in a Modern World ” on – who else – Oakland’s Slumberland Records, also home to one Cause Co-Motion! (our favourites), Crystal Stilts, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (not our favorites).

It’s been a long time since we last heard of Final Fantasy’s Owen Pallett. The eloquent singer-songwriter has a new ep called Spectrum, 14th Century on Blocks Recording Club, a Toronto artist-collective label. You’ll be quite happy to know that he can still craft good offkilter pop songs.

Our Preliminary Top 10 List for Hype Machine’s Zeitgeist

2 spots on my last.fm alltime list is occupied by Deerhoof and Marnie Stern. Yet even though there are new albums on Kill Rock Stars from both camps because I’ve been delaying their drafts everyday and it is about time I come clean that I won’t be able to write.

Isn’t it amazing that it’s year 2008, and there are still some simple names to claim, such as this Canadian indie pop quartet named Women. Their self titled on Chad VanGaalen’s Flemish Eye Recordings is a 30 min (is this a new trend thanks to our shortening attention spans?) trip through psychedelia and jangling post-punk pop scapes.

Had a stroll through last.fm yesterday, the recommendation engine has really been perfected. You can turn on an artist radio and listen to highly relevant music for a long time (changed channels frequently so I don’t know for how long).
