Wevie Stonder
Songs about characters “swimming in a raindrop, living in a thimble” or talking about mid-album crises and asking questions like “like what time is it, why are we here, why are you here?” are just the type of tacky juvenile fun we like.
Medeski Martin & Wood
Anyways, here’s a few songs from Brooklyn’s jazz/funk stalwarts Medeski, Martin and Wood. Their new one “Let’s go everywhere” is actually a kiddie album so what better present for the kids today!. This is an album to “introduce children to jazz without making it too heady, to make it actually fun.”
Busdriver & Radioinactive & Daedelus
This is not a new release (well, what else would you expect from Uncle Dusty) but a nice addition to our favourite triumvirates nevertheless. 2003 album The Weather is an odd ball playground of children’s toys, educational records, household appliances, whistling solos combined with fast and furious leftfield emceeing, hard humour and well-crafted production.
Cassetteboy – Dead Horse & more
Don’t you just love the politically incorrect UK guerilla humour? Don’t you love the accent? I sure do, and I’ve laughed countless times listening to this tape Dead Horse, and their previous bootleg with DJ Rubbish – Inside a whale’s cock!.
