I twitch when I see a mixtape not uploaded to soundcloud (which brings to mind that I forgot to upload the last undomondo show to SC). Anyways enjoy. Will be back in the afternoon with more goodies.

Big up for the English DJ/producer Bullion for this great Beach/Dilla project. The ‘66 Beach Boys album reinterpreted with Dilla’s arsenal of beats is a soundly cohesive clash of giants, reminiscent of Dangermouse’s Beatles mash-ups.

What makes this one special is probably the fact that it’s also a great tribute project, since it’s not only Beach Boys and Dilla mixed together but also Bullion’s style as a producer who’s apt at following Dilla’s steps, clearly shows. I couldn’t think of a better way to show some respect.

Just listened to a track off Ursula Rucker’s Ruckus Soundsysdom, where she describes her by saying “Try to stereotype and analyze me on myspace and okayplayer. Call me a spoken-word artist when I’m really a dope poet”. Yesterday when I was writing the Anthony Joseph post I thought on calling him a poet or a spoken word artist and chose the latter. After this song, I had to go back and change it!

One of the deservedly hottest things in music right now is hands down Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint. If you’ve been sleeping under a rock, Flying Lotus and colleagues have been feeding us nuschool instrumental beats which owe much to electronic music as much as everything hip-hop generally gets inspired off. Poo-Bah Records big guy Ras G has just recently released his second LP called “Brotha from Another Planet” which is a nod to Sun Ra’s album of the same name.

Brotha adds the cosmic touch through the teachings of Sun Ra and the Jamaican roots reggae pioneers to create something astral yet murky and chaotic at the same time. There are interludes with unearthly ambiences that owe as much to electronic music as well as free jazz, and although it adds to the integrity of the album, it also means that there are few songs that come forward. Thankfully, this doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the first excursions into a new sonic territory and it will be remembered as that.

Here we are with #74 and the first thing you’ll notice is that the mix is uploaded to soundcloud. It looks better, plays better and you can leave comments on the timeline! So much gem unearthed by Can mostly this time, Nico Fidenco & Food of the Gods unbelievable stuff. Enjoy and leave feedback if you like it!
