The Young 12 string guitar master James Blackshaw takes on piano in another enchanting album of five songs spanning 50 minutes. The piano pieces are cool, yet we still prefer him fingerpicking his guitar.

Found this astonishing video on youtube this morning. Fred Frith and Zeena Parkins taking their instruments to unprecedented heights with help from Ikue Mori. God, these instruments aren’t actually built to use in that sense!

Robbie Basho : Khalil Gibran off 1974’s iconic Zarthus album released by Vanguard Records. Written for the Lebanese poet and writer Khalil Gibran, this song is the epitome of mystic music while Zarthus is an incredible journey in sacred love, American primitivist folk and Indian ragas that may result in paradigm shifts for the faint of heart who has been spoon fed pop culture by MTV all their lifes.

After years of being a PC poweruser I’ve bought a macbook and changed ranks a few weeks ago. I’ve since become an itunes user after ditching my ultimate music playing setup of winamp & copernic desktop search, and I can’t say I’m happy at all. Seems the rating stars are the only welcomed addition and to commemorate this here are five 5 star tunes.

Fortunately our fears are a thing of the past right now as the iconic Barack Obama has become the 44th president of the USA. We’ve been watching his moves much longer than the media hype started surrounding him and no one deserves this spot better than this sincere, honest and kind man, he has been an inspiration for a whole generation and I hope he will succeed in bringing change and unity to his country and the world.
