Al Hirt
I hereby announce that the rest of my life will be devoted to recreating this moment in time / space: Al Hirt playing the Rocky theme song live at the 1980 New Year’s Eve!
Undomondo Radio Show #82
#82 was done mostly by Can Ayverdi we couldn’t put this online, for a few months. It starts off really cool with piano jazz from Bill Evans et al, gets bit more soulful with Isaac Hayes and Rinlew Allstars, funkier with Donald Byrd’s Stepping into Tomorrow and ventures into boogie and disco for the last bit. Enjoy.
DJ Suhaid (Bombthejazz)
Very excited about meeting and hosting one of the primary movers and shakers in Budapest, DJ Suhaid tomorrow at our dig Mini Müzikhol. Amazing 70’s Magyar Funk & Soul, laced with rock & beat; he’s Budapest’s answer to our own Baris K. Yes, sometimes it’s our turn to get lucky!
Bibi Tanga
Bassist and vocalist Bibi Tanga has recently formed a new band and is getting a lot of attention, thanks to his p-funky bass grooves and acid jazz vibes, with nods to Curtis Mayfield, Roy Ayers, and the afro-funk tradition of Keziah Jones. Don’t forget, this saturday at GHETTO!
Trus’me in Istanbul
Mancunian David James Wolstencroft aka Trus’me is our second minimuzikhol guest from abroad. His brand of refined house, soul and funk has caught the ears of everyone from Gilles Peterson to Mr. Scruff, Jazzanova, Ashley Beedle and Kenny Dixon Jr.
Gentle Persuasion
There are some new additions to our blogroll and a few touches to the design after I realized how much it sucked. I’ll be editing it more until I can get Boran to help me with a brand new redesign. Awesome Tapes from Africa, Excavated Shellac, Another Night on Earth, Disco Delicious, Lamaraba, Lagniappe amazing stuff!
Soundcloud Scavenge
Resting on our soundcloud favelist are three unrelated singles. Siriusmo’s remix to Bodi Bill, Polish electric indie band Thecarisonfire’s debut single and Leftside Wobble’s Curtis Mayfield re-edit. Enjoy.
Bullion : Say goodbye to what
Shelled the first ₤1 of our lunch money to our English goldenboy Bullion. Say Goodbye to What was released as an edition of 40 7”, and of course it’s already sold out, but thanks to bandcamp you can get the digital.
