Les Savy Fav - Let’s stay Friends (Frenchkiss) : So I submitted to indie hypster art rock shit with the Brooklyn indierockers Les Savy Fav. Their uptempo indie stomp is catchy as well, filling in the shoes of last years Bloc Party for me.
Pjusk - Sart (12K): Barren drony soundscapes from Norway by the [...]
Mp3blog roundup 04.04.07
Today I’m being an mp3blog selecta! Here’s some lovely music that you should be listening to instead of that new buzz band!
* Farben - Live At Sahara Tahoe, 1973 (Little White Earbuds) : glitchy electronica
* Differnet - Perpetual Summer (Homemade Avantgarde)
: ambient/textural
* Mou, lips! - looking for symmetry in the laws of nature (Homemade [...]
Undomondo Radio Show #8
I can’t take the whole credit for this, thanks to my sucky mixing skills and an occasional bad apple. Not to bore you with our petty in-house dynamics, mersenne corrected my poor excuse for fade outs and squeezed in a song from his own vault. This time the set’s more moodier than usual (at least [...]
Bonde Do Rolê
We’re definitely into this senseless electro-pop god-knows-whatever hybrid from Brasil’s Bonde Do Rolê. Their “Solta o Frango EP” on Open Field has carved its name in my head instantly with the first track. (well at least I can still remember it starts with B, and I wonder how the ê is pronounced.) This should [...]
Planningtorock
Janine Rostron aka Berlin’s Planningtorock is a wacko. Obsessed with reflections in her videos, she’s being dubbed the artsy Janis Joplin, but she sounds more like the little child of Matthew Herbert and Kevy B. She’s one hell of a creative lady with a new album on Chicks on Speed Records under her belt and [...]
Crash Course in Electro Part 2
Here’s the second part of the crash course with more electro pop and vocal stuff this time. You’re most likely to remember and own most of the songs in here, but how could i omit Sunglasses at Night or Frank Sinatra from this list. All of the songs have stood the test of time for [...]
Crash course in Electro Part 1
I’m sure some of the die hard electroheads will find some songs on this list to be watered down electro, or electro-pop, but I’m pretty much proud of this post guys, this is probably my most dedicated post ever which I took time to remember tunes that cover most of the different electro schools. I was going to put a few electro classics online inspired by Der Zyklus, but then I pretty much delved into history and I couldn’t leave out any.
Kevin Blechdom - Invisible Rock
Stop press, a little break between the recent rock/indie features provided by who other than our favourite lass Kevy B. This is a silly electro-pop song, very raw synth brasses and downward weird-o (and funny) lyrics got me hooked, (I got a secret love // it’s my invisible rock) cheerful, but I’m pretty sure some of you will find it very kitsch and not like it.. oh well you can’t please everyone.. !
