Paul White
Our new fave producer after his Fader Mix with close companion Bullion, UK beatmaker Paul White has just released his debut LP “The Strange Dreams of Paul White” which marryies everything we love from prog rock to BBC samples, with quirky beats and Brit humour.
Hannu
For fans of Hannu Karjalainan, 2009 has been an aural bliss. First his giant EP “Harhailua” which clocks 31 minutes, then Hintergarten his second full-length, and what can we say, they’re both special releases. Hannu conjures intricate landscapes, not unlike the geographical landscapes of Finland, and fills them with sonic representations of human memories.
New Bibio on Warp
Got the news to this one a week or so ago from Tim/Faux Pas but forgot to break it because of time concerns. Anyways Bibio’s getting a new album out on Warp Records next monday, and they have the nicest embeddable widget for you to stream it. No need to tell we are big admirers of his nostalgic psychedelic folk whatever stuff.
Wevie Stonder
Songs about characters “swimming in a raindrop, living in a thimble” or talking about mid-album crises and asking questions like “like what time is it, why are we here, why are you here?” are just the type of tacky juvenile fun we like.
West End Girls
Today we have a Leonard Cohen cover coming from a surprising artist, techno DJ Misstress Barbara, title track Hanne Hukkelberg’s “Blood from a Stone”, opener to Scanner’s “Rockets unto the Edges” and “West End Girls” from electro dance punk sensations We Have Band.
Ghostly Swim
Thanx to yesterday’s tweet tip by Lucas Gonze here’s an amazing free download Ghostly International compo for Adult Swim featuring the who’s who of contemporary electronic music.
Bela Emerson
Bela belongs to this new creed of daring musicians like Fennesz & Aidan Baker who take their instruments further by processing it with an array of loops and effects. On Hespera she succeeds in creating experimental yet organic soundscapes with her cello and multiple pedals.
Moon Wiring Club
Dwelling on a similar aesthetic as his colleagues on Ghost Box, Ian Hodgson has produced an abundance of strange tales and eerie soundscapes on his two efforts both mystically featuring 22 tracks and wonderful artwork.
