A quick journey thru Last.fm
Had a stroll through last.fm yesterday, the recommendation engine has really been perfected. You can turn on an artist radio and listen to highly relevant music for a long time (changed channels frequently so I don’t know for how long). What the mailbox brought in June
Selection off the MP3s emailed to us by artists/labels & promotion companies we got sent this month.
Cof Cof - Caribbean Boy
Cof Cof - Forbidden Cocktail
Spaniards Cof Cof with their catchy lo-fi twee pop.
Tupolev - Reaset
Mödling’s Tupolev has a gloomy sound, reminding me of Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Triosk and Tied and Tickled [...]
Icy Demons
Icy Demons from Chicago has their 3rd album out on the Japanese Easel label. Man Man’s Christopher Powell & Bablicon’s Griffin Rodriguez seem to be the main men of this band, assisted by other Chicago musicians with such silly names as Ali Hawkbar and Ta-Freek-Ya!.
Icy Demons - Desert Toll
Just check out the video to [...]
Mailbox cleanup
Today I found some time to check a good portion of them. Here are some that garnered my attention. Most are indie & folk. Wow, there must be thousands of indie bands right now. Hard to make a name for you in the indie scene nowadays, eh?
Carte Postale Records

* Oturma Grubu : Minimal electronic pop with postrock influences from Ankara/Turkey.
* 1 Abaco Autor Ricar : Well, even the name of this guy is strange. An interesting hybrid music, 90’s rave meets new age meets Spanish romanticism and guitar solos? You name [...]
What to do today!

* Read a review of the illest girl in town. Kevin Blechdom’s latest album ‘Eat my heart out’.
* And while you’re at it, why not read reviews of CocoRosie’s and Devandra’s latest albums on Stylus Mag . Both worth the hype!
* [...]
