This weekend we’ll be hosting Phillip Lauer & CB Funk collectively known with their African persona Arto Mwambe. Last year’s Resident Advisor set was amazing, tune in if you haven’t caught it already back then, and if you’re around Istanbul, make sure you drop by minimuzikhol, tonight or tomorrow. Next weekend we’ll be hosting the nudisco don from Zagreb, Ilija Rudman.

Remember Berlin/Barcelona based MC, RQM? He’s been known to lend his vocal talent first and foremost to Jahcoozi, (who are getting a new album out on Bpitch soon) Tolcha, Al Haca!, Mochipet and Milanese. He send us his new self-released EP which just dropped on Juno a few days ago which includes remixes of Colors Fade by Chris de Luca and JF, and another track called Atomic Fusion produced by Siriusmo. Get it and listen to it with maximum bass if you like grime, dubstep or electro!!.

A few days ago our generous friend Ernest Gonzales from Exponential Music tipped us about their annual freebie compilation for SXSW. Rather than putting solely their own artists this time they’ve invited who’s who of the nu wave electronic beatmakers from labels such as Exponential, Ninja Tune, Stones Throw, Daly City, Creaked, Innovative Leisure, and Fake Four, incl. but not limited to The Heliotronics, Jahcoozi’s Robot Koch, James Pants, Sutekh, Deceptikon, Mochipet, Shlohmo and Ernest himself. Bark Bark Disco’s twee pop gets even sweeter when the video backdrop is the classic “Six Swedish Girls in a Boarding School“. But I shall add that it’s not all glory for the Malta & Berlin trio, their free download debut “Your Mum says Hello” has a lot of run-of-the-mill electropop fillers that I’d have cut if I were their producer. Cenk Akyol’s style has always been distinct and his lists picky. Once again he’s told us that he wasn’t able to find 10 or so releases to enjoy completely this year, so his best of lists consists mostly of songs. His album picks seem to correct some I’ve done, particularly missing out on Masada and Scanner. He has also justified my selection of In the Country as one of the top albums this year. He’s more than 12000kms away in Australia, and I think I haven’t seen him for 5 years or so, but we haven’t lost that musical connection.

Luke Dsico just emailed us about his new EP on bandcamp. He’s one of dem newbreed of producers of alt disco fused with electro, rock & vocals. It’s a ‘name your own price’ release with no minimum. So if you like what you hear you know what to do. BTW Luke has relocated to London and he’s up for gigs.
