Dungen
Swedish psychedelic combo Dungen is back with a new one on Subliminal Sounds. Their 4th album aptly titled “4” is an extremely well crafted album of eclectic influences such as psychedelic pop, 60s soul, swedish folk, acid jam rock and jazz.
The ingredients might sound a little awkward. Swedish folk, jam rock and soul? [...]
Mailbox P2 : AGF, Douglas Lee, Pattern is Movement, Aficionado
We’re already fans of the German spoken word / electronica artist Antye Greie Fuchs aka AGF. I thnik I’ve already mentioned her collabs with Vladislav Delay and Zavoloka. She’s released a new album on her own label in February, composed of her own voice and electronic transformations. Earlabs review.
Chinese avantgardista Douglas Lee has [...]
Artanker Convoy
Artanker Convoy - Erratique directed by Paul Kermizian
Groovy Brooklyn collective Artanker Convoy has a new one out on The Social Registry also home to Gang Gang Dance, Samara Lubelski and Blood on the Wall, and the 6 tracker named “Cozy Endings” has easily piqued my interest enough to take the spot for the beginning of [...]
Trans Am
Thrill Jockey mammoth Trans Am has a new album out named “Sex Change”. Arguably one of the most prominent bands of the 90s alongside Tortoise and Labradford, their new album is interestingly radiofriendly somewhat opposed to their eclectic musical tastes. Frankly I’ve never been a huge fan of synth + rock, or new wave, or the arena electronic aesthetic of MTV’s pop acts, but this album caught me totally offguard.
What the mailbox brought in #3
Here’s the third installment of the “What the mailbox brought in” series, that’s selected from emails sent by groups and labels to undomondo.
“The sound of The Autumn Project is something of a familiar one, reminiscent of Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Isis and Mogwai but still original, fresh and unadulterated. Dynamics, melody, and emotion are [...]
What the mailbox brought..
Chosen from incoming submissions to undomondo recently.
The first one you should get is Passage by Liberation Prophecy. A chaotic orchestra of 9 musicians led by Jacob Duncan. Lots of orchestration beautiful vocals by Amber Estes who replaced the now forld famous Norah Jones. Many influences can be listed like Zappa’s orchestra, free jazz, world [...]
Koby Israelite
I know I sound like a Tzadik fanboy sometimes because half of the shit we feature on here is from Tzadik, but I really admire their constant output of noteworthy stuff. Koby Israelite’s new album on Tzadik’s Radical Jewish Series is a genre breaker. In his bio he mentions that he likes music that [...]
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
I’ve known Mr. Fleck’s name for a few years, mostly because of his “Ten from little worlds album“, and if I weren’t lazy (and ill) I would post some songs from that album as well.. All the time I thought he was the bass player, or the composer or the guitar player, but I never [...]
