Can someone transcribe this hypnotic piece from German easy listening könig Horst Jankowski. A fine anomaly from space age era 50s. I bet its pretty easy to transcribe for a German friend, but I forgot to brush my German skills after high school.

The in-house gag about this show was that we were ready to work at the BRT (a fictional state owned radio station from Brasil that resembles our TRT) simply because it never wanders off brasileira & exotica, albeit a few breathers of downtempo jazz from Cecil Taylor and Marc Copland. Play this on sunny afternoons.

It’s a shame we’ve spent the better half of the summer with no mixes. This one’s been half-baked for about a month when Can and I committed to it once again and wrapped it up. See, once you lose self discipline, it’s hard to get back on your feet.

This one’s got the lazy summer vibe that stopped us from making it in the first place. So beware if you are in a hurry, as this might teleport your mind to the beach and ruin your business. It even made us forget to write the playlist!

Off the top of my head, tracks from Mocky, Arthur Verocai, Flora Purim, Joao Donato, Gal Costa, Lijadu Sisters, will fill it up when I get back home.

Just to mark this point in time, in which I’m feeling quite relaxed with the sun shining on my balcony and I have a peace of mind, and it feels great. Off Dave Pike’s Manhattan Latin album which you can buy MP3s from here .

Bright and cheerful selection inspired by bright blue skies and white fluffy clouds. We have a track off Christian Prommer’s rework of The Dining Room’s Ink album, Pat Metheny’s invincible debut Bright Size Life’s self-titled title track. Nomo’s rework of Moondog’s Bumbo from their latest album Invisible Cities. I wonder how they keep improving all the time, amazing band!

Next up is Chaz Jankel’s Boy which I nicked off from Cool in the Pool and the late German easy listening king Horst Jankowski’s The Donkey Serenade off his A Walk in the Black Forest.

The world of lounge, exotica and easy listening is a bottomless pit, with an unfathomable amount of golden material buried under crap music every day. Who would have thought the talented Mexican pianist Pepe Jaramillo will one day be forgotten? These three songs are from his 1960 album South of the Border released only on vinyl. An absolute beauty with nary a bad song, including covers of Ernesto Lecuona’s Siboney and the mambo classic Sway among others.

I’ve been busy with my MA thesis increasingly for the last months and will be as well till the end of the month, so expect the posts to get more sporadic and shorter. I’ve been glued to the screen for the last 8 hours today and feel on the verge of collapse, so before I go out for a pint and a bit of PES, here’s a few songs from the lovely She had a taste for music compilation which features porngrooves from 70’s Italian low-budget porn movies bt producers

#75 was mostly dug by Can with me contributing my mixing (more like ableton live) skills. That’s why his dandy style noticably takes over, as this is one fine 1 hour mix, for which you are obliged to be in your bathrobes or robe de chambres, comfortably sipping some brandy (or any other dandy drink). This mix goes through easy listening, jazz, exotica and old surf music, it definitely feels retro but not kitsch (i hope).
