Undomondo Radio Show #79
The in-house gag about this show was that we were ready to work at the BRT (a fictional state owned radio station from Brasil that resembles our TRT) simply because it never wanders off brasileira & exotica, albeit a few breathers of downtempo jazz from Cecil Taylor and Marc Copland. Play this on sunny afternoons.
She had a taste
I’ve been busy with my MA thesis increasingly for the last months and will be as well till the end of the month, so expect the posts to get more sporadic and shorter. Here’s a few songs from the lovely She had a taste for music compilation which features porngrooves from 70’s Italian low-budget porn movies.
Undomondo Radio Show #74
Here we are with #74 and the first thing you’ll notice is that the mix is uploaded to soundcloud. It looks better, plays better and you can leave comments on the timeline! So much gem unearthed by Can mostly this time, Nico Fidenco & Food of the Gods unbelievable stuff. Enjoy and leave feedback if you like it!
Waldeck – Ballroom Stories
One of Austria’s finest nujazz/downtempo artists and a member of the original Vienna sound alongside Kruder & Dorfmeister. Klaus Waldeck has released a new album after 2001’s The Night Garden. The opener track “Make my day” was released last year as a single and was drafted for a Mercedes ad, so it might be familiar to you.
Downtempo Selection 2
Here we are with part 2 of the Downtempo Selection.
First up is a song by guitarist Duminie DePorres
Heading onto a different vibe, Frank Popp’s six piece outfit makes sugar pop flavoured with 60’s dances, soulful vocal chorus’ and organ work by the man himself.
Downtempo Selection 1
Bristol’s Ben Westbeech and An artist collective I’ve first heard this year is Free the Robots on Elsewhere Studios
Breaking News : Forro in the Dark in town
This album’s really the most easy going and cheerful album that we’ve listened to in a few months, completely packed with percussion (including a triangle!), tropical vibes, flute, guitar and it’s seen as the best representation of Forro, the traditional dance & music of northeastern Brazil channeled into a highly accessible easy listening mentality (unlike some of the stale latin jazz).
Otur
Here’s a surprise electronic downtempo album from Sweden, which went far beyond my expectations. Otur means the imperative “sit down” in Turkish, but I figured out that it means bad luck in Swedish. 22 years old Emma Bates from Malmoe, Sweden who was previously worked with Jens Lekman and lots more seems to be an active mover and shaker in Sweden.
