Heavy Deviance

Heavy Deviance is a soulful, deep house duo from UK. If you like stuff like The Rurals (which you should!) you’d be familiar with the laidback, rhodesy UK house sound.. well add a bit of electro and downtempo beats to it and you get a solid urban album from the fresh Pure-Mint label.
I selected 2 songs from the album, yet it was a close call.. “Day by Day” is a moody song with jazzy chords from a rhodes, and great vocals by Lauren Surridge. It’s got a 2/4 shuffle rhythm, something that’s highly unlikely to be on an album of this type, I guess they have some German influence in them as well! :) Anyways, what I should probably add is, although I have used many catch phrases like downtempo, electro and deep house, Heavy Deviance is hard to categorise. They have an eclectic sound and many ideas for songs for variance.
The second track is “Safe + Warm” which is a 90-100BPM veeeery laidback disco track, with great & sexy vocals male vocals . I would say this is a definite hit that would rock your dancefloor (if you play around those BPMs of course!) or your sofa!
Well at least you can get the album and play this track to your ex-gf tomorrow!
“Now I know that you’re a heart headed woman, but I wanna keep you safe and warm // Let’s start again tomorrow, baby let me please prove you wrong. // Gimme one more chance!”
