deep house
Trus’me in Istanbul
Mancunian David James Wolstencroft aka Trus’me is our second minimuzikhol guest from abroad. His brand of refined house, soul and funk has caught the ears of everyone from Gilles Peterson to Mr. Scruff, Jazzanova, Ashley Beedle and Kenny Dixon Jr.
Cenk Akyol’s Best of 2009
Cenk Akyol’s style has always been distinct and his lists picky. Once again he’s told us that he wasn’t able to find 10 or so releases to enjoy completely this year, so his best of lists consists mostly of songs.
Mixes Week 52
Mixes around the net : Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins, A decade of Flying Lotus mixed by The Gaslamp Killer, Washed Out’s The Fantastic Symphony, New mix from Mark E, Discoutcasts’ Disco Disgrace, Domu tribute mix, and Dinamo’s Guven’s latest dubstep mix.
Soul Clap Free EP
Our good friends at Soul Clap have released a free EP of rnb edits. Aptly titled the FreE.P., this 3 song EP is all “dancefloor tested” material. We trust ‘em with our hearts, just check out how they transformed Aaliyah’s Rock the Boat into a funky deep house hit.
Soirée
Just received this one from Bear Funk. Soirée, labelowner Stevie Kotey’s new project with Max Essa is a real beast that fuses all the good bits from balearic house, disco, funk and anything soulful.
Trus’me album preview
Soundcloud previews of Trusme’s upcoming In the Red, Jamie Lloyd’s Beware of the Light on Future Classic and 8 remixes by Hamburg’s Tensnake.
Soundcloud Stalk 2
A quick recap of some new stuff found on Soundcloud. Sukh Knight features Jahcoozi’s Sasha on Hands in your Pockets, grimy dubsteppy electro. New stuff from Peter Kruder, Onda Sonora edits Ain’t No Love Lost, and finally a massive deep house tune by Patchworks under his “Uptown Funk Empire” moniker.
Blending Days
Was archive digging last sunday and it’s such a shame that house tracks live only as tracks for a short period of time, there are some good stuff that shouldn’t go to house hell so easily. That Persuader track from Svek for example or Chicago Music System’s classic Work It. Might be digging more in the future.
