K. Sparks & Pajozo
Here’s a surpriser I got in my mailbox some time ago. Queens MC K. Sparks and Swedish producer Pajozo has released an album named Definition. I wasn’t expecting too much because there’s a whole insurge of producers and MCs lately who are plain shite, so I make sure to listen only a selected few.
Recloose
Guess what, Detroit native Matthew Chicoine aka Recloose’s third album is out on Sonar Kollektiv, and no one on the blogosphere is talking about it according to hype machine.
Kissey Asplund
Hittin’ you up with another sweet soul sensation, this time from Sweden. Kissey Asplund’s debut on UK’s R2 Records is as sweet and deep as vocals go. With jazzy & ultra laidback beats provided by Paris hip-hoppers Papa Jazz Crew, this is a collaborative zeitgeist for Europe Soul in 2008.
Summer Soul Intro P1: Eric Lau
This week we’ll be covering all the neosoul/jazzy hiphop stuff coming out mostly from the UK and of course the US (Stones Throw!) It’s def going to be the sound of this summer and might we say flutes are making a comeback!.
Trus’me
One of the albums that didn’t get as much attention as it deserved last year was “Working Nights” by Trus’me. Released in November 2007 by Manchester based producer David James Wolstencroft who has already garnered attention with his previous 12″s on LFM,”Working Nights” is a versatile cosmic dance album with roots in disco and soul, but also caters to the house (especially deep UK house) loving crowd as well.
Recent Jazzy Hiphop
I was using the Minor Crisis mp3host recently for uploading songs, I even became a donator for the last month, but today for some reason I see that they have removed everything I’ve upped for the last month. I won’t be upping them back, so sorry bout that kids, if any of you are particularly interested in a song, just contact me and I may upload it.
Raw Artistic Soul
I’ve been on a soulful jazzy house tip for some time because of this stormer called “You got rhyhtm too”. It seems Mr. Phil Kullmann better known as Raw Artistic Soul has gotten all the better parts of Latin, Afro Beat, Funk & Dub and put it into a warm soulful house album. Released by Gogo Music, this album has some guest musicians & vocalists.
Osunlade presents Yoruba Records
NYC’s Yoruba Records is 5 years old! and here is a double cd compilation by label boss Osunlade to celebrate this great occasion. Artists such as Ebbo, Franck, Nadirah Shakoor, Kb and Osunlade himself have some great tracks on this one. Afro inspired Deep & Soulful US House music with vocals and tribal beats, make up most of the songs and they would be highly suitable for office or pool parties as I’m sure some latino percussion and shakers would turn everyone into dance monsters. If you’re bored of the dark side’s senseless and soulless house music, prepare for an other dimension of quality house music.
